Privacy

Practice Tube keeps your playing on your computer.

Practice Tube is a Chrome extension that helps musicians practice with YouTube videos. It has no server, no account and no analytics. Nothing it handles is sent to the developer or to anyone else.

What the extension handles

  • Your recordings. When you press Record, Practice Tube records your microphone or audio interface so you can hear yourself over the video. The audio is saved only in this Chrome profile on your computer.
  • Which video a recording belongs to. The video ID and title are saved with the recording so it reloads when you open that video again.
  • Your practice setup. For each video where you turn on “Save and restore”, its speed, key and A-B loop points are saved in this Chrome profile, along with your choices in Options. Nothing is saved for videos where it is off.
  • The sound of the YouTube tab. When you change the key, the tab's audio is processed live to shift it. It is not saved or sent anywhere.

✓Where it is stored

Only on your computer, in Chrome's storage for this extension. Nothing is synced to your Google account or uploaded.

✓Third parties and sharing

Practice Tube uses no third-party services and shares no data with anyone. Data is not sold and not used for advertising.

✓Keeping and deleting

Recordings and settings stay until you delete them. In Options you can see how much space recordings use and delete them all. Uninstalling the extension deletes everything it stored. Clearing browsing history or cache does not delete recordings.

About this website

Separate from the extension, and stated here so the two are not confused: wptrat.com measures its own traffic with Matomo, running on a server the maker owns rather than a third-party analytics service. It records ordinary page-visit information. No advertising networks, no cross-site trackers, and nothing that connects a visit here to anything you do with Practice Tube, because the extension has nothing to report.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new date. If anything on this page turns out not to match what the extension does, that is a bug, and I want to know: write to me through the support form, which lands straight in my inbox.
